Krásné Vánoce
Dneska žádná angličtina. Přeju vám veselé Vánoce, hodně dárků od Ježíška a hodně pohádek a pohodové svátky :-) A do nového roku spoustu šťastných kroků :-)

Battle Hill Park
On Sunday we went on a small trip to Battle Hill Farm Forest Park near Porirua. It was a nice walk up to the hills with lovely view all around the valley. We walked through pastures with freely grazing sheeps and lambs. The sheep-mothers were really taking care of their children, they stood in front of them to protect them from us - intruders.

New Zealand Christmas tree
There are Christmas in nine days. But true is that I don't have Christmas mood at all. It is such lovely weather here, sun is shining, it is getting warmer, everything is green and in bloom. How am I supposed to have feeling of approaching Christmas?

Earthquake
Today in the morning there was a small earthquake. I was asleep and it woke me up, but it took me a while that I realized what it is. It was small shaking :-)

Mikulas
There is Mikulas today in Czech Republic. As I am not there I wish all the best to my family and friends. I hope that you have been good and that you will get some presents, not just coal :-)There are no indications that men celebrate Mikulas in NZ. I know just about one event - Czech and Slovak club in Wellington organize Mikulas afternoon for children on Sunday. But at the same time is also salsa party and I will go probably there.

Cape Palliser
On Saturday 1. 12., we were on a trip to Cape Palliser - the southernmost point of North Island. It was beautiful lovely and as always windy day. This was the first time in my life when I saw seal in real; there was a small seal colony.

Hobbit mania
On Wednesday 28, there was a world premiere of The Hobbit: unexpected journey. After the success of The Lord of the Rings, everobody was looking forward to the Hobbit. And here it is - I was there and took some photos.

Friendly Kiwis
I have to say that people here are really friendly. I've already met some people, most of all at salsa and zouk classes, and they are friendly, welcoming and smiling. And - some of them are trying to help me with searching for a job. At least I sent them my CV and they forwarded it to other persons. This is my big thank to them!

New Zealand's washing machines
I don't understand the system of washing machine here very well. They have the same washing machine as we do, well at least at first sight. Front loader, top loader, ok it is the same. But - how can you set up washing correctly? Temperature - cold, warm, hot water - no 30°C, 40°C, 50°C...90°C. How can I know what "warm" water means? Is it 40°C or 60°C?

Zouk practica
On Friday evening I went on zouk practica - it isn't like classes, everybody is dancing freely, it is mixture of different people with different level of skills. It is propably better for girls, because it seems to me that there are more experienced boys than girls in zouk in Wellington. So, I really enjoyed it and hopefully also learnt something :-) More than two hours of dancing. I like dancing with Adam!

Cold?!
I`ve finally figured it out, Kiwis are willingly torturing themselves. They don`t build proper houses with heating, central heating in fact doesn`t exist here, simple windows, wooden houses, no insulation (nowhere!)...Just why? Why don`t they build comfortable, warm houses, where they can stay and relax, when outside is always windy?
It reminds of one book written by Emily Brontë - Wuthering Heights. In Czech it is Na větrné hůrce. The story is not about that, but the title corresponds exatly :-)

The Polish community
On Sunday I was in Polish house here in Wellington, watching Quo Vadis (2001). I read the book by Sienkiewicz a few years ago and I really liked it. It has a powerful touching story. When Adam (teacher of zouk) texted me if I want to come, I said yes :-) It was a nice afternoon spent with some people from dance classes and many retirees.

Typing every day
I started to learn typing with all ten fingers. Finally! I wanted to start so many times, but I have never learnt nothing more than the home row:

Now I can slowly type the basics rows without looking on my fingers :-)Monday, 12 November 2012
Makara beach
On Saturday 10. 11. we (I, Honza, Eva and Hywel) went on Makara beach and a small trip around Wellington. It was beautiful sunny day, blue sea and sandy beaches inviting for swimming...but it is still soo cold!

Zouk
I finally started to learn zouk :-) It is much more difficult than salsa but I like it. And Adam is really a good teacher. For an unknown reason I can not upload video from the class, so just one from Youtube.

Hobbits everywhere - The Middle of Middle-earth
Hobbits, dwarfs and other strange creatures are everywhere :-) As the premiere of Hobbit (November 28, 2012; by Peter Jackson) is slowly approaching, it is more and more obvious that New Zealand is really the Middle Earth and people are living it.

Some photos from Wellington
Here are some photos from Wellington. I will be probably regularly adding new photos to this album :-)

První dojmy
Let byl doopravdy dlouhý a unavující. Několik postřehů a rad pro příště - ideálně nesedět poblíž rodin s malými dětmi - mají v sobě minimálně deset baterek Duracell, které vydrží rozhodně déle než normální baterie, takže děti nespí a s nimi nespí celé okolí. Číňani/Japonci/Korejci (nepoznám rozdíl) jsou strašně milí, ochotní a slušní, na druhou stranu zvukové projevy především u jídla jsou poněkud výraznější...
