New Zealand's washing machines

I don't understand the system of washing machine here very well. They have the same washing machine as we do, well at least at first sight. Front loader, top loader, ok it is the same. But - how can you set up washing correctly? Temperature - cold, warm, hot water - no 30°C, 40°C, 50°C...90°C. How can I know what "warm" water means? Is it 40°C or 60°C?

Another story - washing time. I am used to the washing time around one and half hour. Here - 30 minutes??? And as you can guess, the laundry is not perfectly clean, not as I am used to. So, the best way is to do the washing twice.

The last funny thing :-) They distinguish the detergents for washing machine with top or front doors. What is the difference? No one was able to explain that to me.
